Create a customer quote
Build a quote with customer details, line items, quote dates, tax settings, notes, and terms.
Use New Quote when you need to prepare a proposal, estimate, or quote for a customer before work is accepted or converted into the next billing step. Review customer, line items, dates, tax settings, and totals before creating the quote.
Select the customer
- Open Quotes.
- Choose New Quote.
- In Customer, select the customer who should receive the quote.
- Confirm the customer before adding line items and terms.
Add line items
Use Line Items to add what the quote covers. Choose the type, add a description, quantity, unit price, and discount type when needed. Use Add Item to add another line, and remove a line if it should not appear on the quote.
The totals area shows subtotal, tax, and total. Tax can be calculated on save depending on the tax settings and customer address context, so review the total before creating the quote.
Set quote settings
In Settings, choose the quote Currency, add a Title when the quote needs a customer-facing project name, and enter a Reference Number when you use purchase orders, project references, or another internal customer reference.
Set quote dates
Use Dates to set the Quote Date and Valid Until date. The valid-until date can be auto-set from the quote date, such as 30 days later, but you should still review it before creating the quote.
Review tax settings
Tax Settings can include automatic tax calculation, tax exempt treatment, manual tax-rate override, and prices-include-tax behavior. Use the Tax support article when you need to understand tax behavior beyond the quote form.
Add notes and terms
Use Notes & Terms for the Introduction, Customer Notes, Internal Notes, and Terms & Conditions. Customer notes and terms can be visible to the customer; internal notes are for your team context.
Create the quote
When customer, line items, settings, dates, tax settings, notes, terms, and totals look correct, choose Create Quote.
