Manage chart of accounts
Use Financial > Chart of Accounts to review GL accounts, import defaults, and add reporting accounts.
Chart of Accounts helps organize GL accounts used for financial reporting context in Getme. Use it to review account codes, account names, types, subtypes, balance direction, system locks, status, and available account actions.
Open Chart of Accounts
From the admin sidebar, open Financial, then choose Chart of Accounts. The page header shows Manage your GL accounts for financial reporting. Use Import Defaults to load the default account structure, or Add Account to create a new account.
Use account type tabs
The tabs filter the account list by account type. The screen can show All, Asset, Liability, Equity, Revenue, and Expense, each with a count. Use these tabs to narrow the table before searching or editing.
Search and filter accounts
Use Search by code, name or subtype to find a specific GL account. Use the status filter, such as Active, to show active accounts or narrow the list by account availability.
Read the GL accounts table
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Code | The GL account code, such as 1000, 1100, or 1511. |
| Account name | The account name, such as Assets, Accounts Receivable, Bank Account, Cash on Hand, Inventory Asset, or Raw Materials Inventory. |
| Type | The account type, such as Asset, Liability, Equity, Revenue, or Expense. |
| Subtype | The account subtype, such as accounts_receivable, bank, cash, inventory, prepaid, or tax_receivable. |
| Balance | The normal balance direction shown in the table, such as Debit or Credit. |
| System | A lock indicator when the account is system controlled. |
| Status | The account status, such as Active. |

Add an account
Select Add Account to create a new account. In Account details, enter Account Code and Account Name. Optionally choose Account Subtype to refine the account role for reports.
Use the Status card to set Availability, such as Active. Use Classification to choose Account Type, Normal Balance, and Level. Account Type controls the code range and classification, Normal Balance controls the debit or credit direction, and Level controls how the account sits in the account hierarchy.
Before changing accounts
- Confirm the account code fits the selected account type and range.
- Use subtypes consistently so reports group accounts correctly.
- Avoid changing system-controlled accounts unless the action is explicitly supported.
- Review expense categories, ledger exports, and reconciliation context after adding or changing accounts.
- Confirm changes with your accounting professional before relying on them outside Getme.
