Create a promotion or discount code
Set up a promotion, review its rules, and keep it in draft until it is ready.
Promotions lets you manage discounts, codes, and automatic promotions from one workspace. Use it when you need a customer-facing offer with clear rules, timing, eligibility, and publishing status.
Review the promotions dashboard
The Promotions dashboard shows recent activity for the selected date range, such as promotions created, redemptions, discount amount, promotions updated, and deleted promotions. Use the date selector, search, status filter, type filter, method filter, and sort control to find existing promotions before creating a new one.
- Search promotions by name or related copy.
- Filter by All Statuses, All Types, or All Methods when narrowing the list.
- Use Newest First or another sort option to review the promotion list.
- Open an existing promotion from the Promotions table when you need to edit a current offer.
Start a new promotion
- Open Promotions from the Commerce area.
- Choose New Promotion.
- Add a Title, such as a seasonal offer name.
- Add a Description for storefront-facing promotion copy.
- Keep the promotion in Draft while you review the rules.
Configure the discount rules
In Promotion Configuration, choose the Discount Type and Method. For code-based offers, add the promotion code and review how it will be normalized before saving. For automatic promotions, review the conditions that decide when the discount applies.
- Use Discount Percentage or the relevant value field for the selected discount type.
- Use Max Discount Cap when the promotion needs a cap.
- Use Applies To to choose eligible products, services, add-ons, variants, or categories where supported by the picker.
- Use Minimum Purchase Amount or Minimum Quantity when the offer should require a minimum order context.
Add promotion codes when the method requires one
The Promotion Codes area creates redeemable codes for the promotion. Review the entered code before adding it. If no codes are added, customers may not have a code to enter for a code-based promotion.
Set customer eligibility and limits
Customer eligibility controls who can use the promotion, such as all customers or a narrower audience when available. Usage Limits can include total uses, per-customer limits, and once-per-customer behavior.
Set schedule and subscription behavior
Use Schedule to set the start date and optional end date. Leave the end date empty only when the promotion should not have an expiration date. Use Subscription settings to choose billing cycles and applicable billing periods when the promotion applies to recurring offers.
Review combinations and publishing
Use Combinations to decide whether this promotion can be used with product discounts, order discounts, or shipping discounts. Review Publishing to confirm whether the promotion is published to any channel before customers can use it.
Complete search listing and organization
Use Search Engine Listing to preview the promotion page title, description, and handle. Use Organization Sort Order when promotion priority matters; higher values are evaluated first when promotions conflict.
Review the promotion detail page after saving
After a promotion is created, open its detail page to review the current status and rule summary before sharing it. The header can show the promotion name, status such as Active, discount type such as Fixed Amount Off, method such as Code Required, and an Edit Promotion action when changes are needed.
- Use Total Uses, Unique Customers, and Total Discount Given to review usage activity for the promotion.
- Use Usage Limits & Capacity to compare total uses and per-customer limits, such as 1 / unlimited or 10x per customer.
- Use Discount Codes to review active or disabled codes, copy a code, and check how many times a code has been used.
- Use Usage History to review whether the promotion has been applied to orders; refresh when checking recent activity.
- Use Targeted audience to confirm segments or customer groups connected to the promotion.
The detail sidebar summarizes Promotion Details, Conditions, and Active Period. Review value, discount type, method, applies-to scope, max discount cap, minimum purchase or quantity, customer eligibility, combination settings for product, order, and shipping discounts, start date, end date, created date, and last updated date.
