Add images or files to site sections
Use section media fields, the Media Library, and the Select file modal to place assets on a page.
Many site sections can use media, such as a Hero background or split image, a Text with image block, or another section image field. You can choose an existing asset, upload a new one, or paste a URL when that field supports it.
Open the section media field
- Open Sites and enter the Visual Editor.
- Choose the page and section you want to update.
- Open a media field such as Background or split image, Image, or another section image control.
- Use Browse media library or the field picker to open the Select file modal.
If the field is empty, the section may render a token-coloured background or gradient placeholder until you choose media. That is useful when the section design should stay clean without an image.
Find or upload a file
In Select file, use Search files to find an asset by name. Use filters such as All, Addons, Branding, Categories, Editor, Forms, General, Products, Services, Vendors, or Website to narrow the library before selecting a file.
- Use Add media to upload a new image or file.
- Use the link option when you need to paste a supported media URL.
- Drag and drop images into the upload area, or click to browse from your device.
- Select an existing file card when the asset is already in the library.
Confirm the selected file
After choosing a file, check the selected-file area at the bottom of the modal. Use Cancel if you do not want to change the section. Use Done when the selected file is correct.
Preview the section after adding media
Preview the page on desktop, tablet, and mobile after adding media. Check image cropping, text readability, button placement, section spacing, and whether the section still works if the image takes time to load.
