Connect pages to your site navigation

Use the Menu panel when a page, collection, storefront area, search page, cart, account page, or footer group needs to appear in site navigation. Navigation changes should be reviewed in preview before publishing because they affect how visitors move through the site.

Open the Menu panel

1. Open Sites and enter the Visual Editor.
2. Choose Menu from the left editor rail.
3. Review Header Navigation for top-level links shown in the header.
4. Review Footer Navigation for grouped links shown in the footer.

Update header navigation

Header Navigation can include links such as Home, Forms, Products, Services, Blog, Docs, Cart, Account, Search, language entries, or collection-style items. Use Add Header Navigation item to add another item, then expand the item to edit its settings.

• Use the drag handle to reorder header items.
• Use the expand control to open item settings.
• Use the remove control when an item should no longer appear.
• Leave the label blank only when the navigation item is meant to render as icon-only.

Choose the item type and target

For internal pages, choose Item Type: Page and select the page, such as home (/), forms (/forms), products (/products), services (/services), blog (/blog), docs (/docs), cart (/cart), account (/account), or search (/search). Use Custom URL for external links or custom destinations. Internal links should prefer Page when the page is available in the selector.

Open In controls whether the link opens in the same window. Icon and Style control the visual treatment, and Visible controls whether the item renders in navigation.

Use dynamic children when navigation is source-backed

Dynamic Children can resolve menu children from source-backed data at runtime, such as Product Categories. Children Layout controls how those children render in header dropdowns. Parent category, Ancestor category, Selected slugs, Depth, Children limit, Include nested children, and Show source images help narrow what appears when a runtime source is used.

Update footer navigation groups

Footer Navigation is organized into groups such as Navigation, Commerce, and Resources. Each group can contain Links, and each group can be moved up or down, expanded, removed, or edited. Use Add Links item to add another link inside a group, or Add footer group to create a new group.

• Navigation groups often include Home, Products, and Services.
• Commerce groups can include Categories, Brands, and Cart.
• Resources groups can include Forms, Blog, and Docs.
• Group keys such as footer.navigation, footer.commerce, and footer.resources help identify the footer group in the theme configuration.

Review and publish navigation changes

Preview the header and footer on desktop, tablet, and mobile before publishing. Check dropdowns, icon-only items, footer groups, language presentation, and links that point to pages, cart, account, search, or source-backed collections. Publish after the navigation matches the intended site structure.
